Our warm water therapy classes are conducted at Gisborne Aquatic Centre in their custom built therapy pool. The water temperature is a comfortable degree, with ramp entry into the pool.
Classes are conducted on a weekly basis, with appointments made through the clinic. New clients to the clinic will need to book an in-rooms assessment before attending a class. Existing clients will be referred directly into the class via their existing therapist as deemed appropriate. Whilst the class will be a small group, your attending therapist will provide individualised exercise programs specific to your needs and water experience.
Water based therapy is beneficial for most musculoskeletal conditions, including low back pain, shoulder and neck pain, lower body injuries, and post-operative rehabilitation. The primary benefit of the pool is its non-weightbearing environment, where the buoyancy of the water can assist with movements that may be uncomfortable on land. The water also provides some gentle resistance, allowing a strengthening element to the exercise. Swimming ability is not required, with feet remaining on the floor and head above the water at all times.
